Evo2k11!
I’m the world’s best street fighter. Period. Is what this post would be if I won the tourney, except obviously I didn’t, I don’t use fei long and i cant read mind
Me bran mari jon went to vegas over the long weekend to go to Evo2k at the Rio. For people who are unfamiliar with it, its one of the worlds biggest fighting game tournament. This year they have blazblue, tekken 6, mortal kombat 9, marvel vs capcom 3, and street fighter 4 arcade edition; we (minus mari) play in sf4 ae
Now I’m not a crazy street fighter gamer or anything, I only play whenever I’m at brans place pretty much. Bran on the other hand, has logged over 300 (or 500 I don’t know anymore) hours in s/sf4. I wanted him to go for years, and this year was THE year, so I had to go and cheer, and since I was ready going, why not play, I can get a badge and free tshirt!
Ill leave the details to our flaming toaster post(!), but man it was AWESOME. Watching it live, seeing all the crazy beat down and come back, and the crowd going all crazy, were already thinking about going back next year. To end this post, I will put write many things to do and not to do to remind myself next year:
- NEVER take the shuttle service from vegas airport to hotel, it makes a million stops, never again in my life
- Choose wisely on who to bring, its big nerdy sausage fest
- Always have at least one gaming nerdy tshirt its one of the few occasions where you can wear it proudly, geeks unite!
- Always get all your goodies and buy everything you want first day as early as possible so they don’t run out (or close the stand) later
- Be prepared for waiting 30 min just to play a match of casuals
- Be prepared to not step outside all day, and sit for 8 hours if yiu want good seats to watch finals
- 50 nuggets for 10 bux is the best meal ever, $32 for 12 tacos is NOT
- Go to minus5 bar at 12, not 215, and you don’t need to get shoes if you’re from canada
- If you stay at the rio, go to the pool in the morning, not afternoon since the sun gets blocked at around 4
- Don’t stay at the rio unless you have to
