the rare occasion that i read the newspaper, i thought this is kinda interesting (the risk you live with, vancouver sun, mar 9th), there’s lots of stuff, and all these are by stats, not like it’ll actually be that dangerous

ironworkers/miners/paramedics have 1 in 6 chances of being injured – the most dangerous job we have, while cookes/janitors/prison guard have the same chances (1 in 17), a retail sales clerk has more chances of being injured (1 in 41) than a police officer (1 in 43), and bartending is even more (1 in 39)! and pet groomers (1 in 27)! and if you are a business manager or investment dealer, you’re injure free (1 in ~10000)

there are more falling off a cliff (1 in 20560) than mauled by an animal (1 in 22617), and willius you gotta stop mowing lawns (1 in 226165), it’s too much risk

average age of death is 73.8, you have 99.9% of dying before age 105, unless you’re age 100 already, you have 1.1% chance dying before 30 if you’re already past 20! 1 in 3 have cancer or heart disease, but people who died of cancer actually live about 8 years longer, you have 1 in 12 chance of dying of lung cancer by stats (of course this doesn’t apply if you’re non smoker), gg smokers

the chance of you being murdered is 1 in 35000, but more than 80% are done by someone the victim knows

(everyone should know flying is way safer than driving anyway) after 9.11, people were so scared of flying, everyone drove for about a year and resulted in ~1500 unnecessary deaths in car accidents – more than 5 times the number of 4 plans in 9.11

1 in 2 million that we will get destroyed by an asteroid, and 1 in 9 that a uber ultra 9+ earthquake will hit lower mainland in next 50 years, gg? no wait, 1 in 4 that a uber 7+ quake will hit in next 50 years

oh and, white men are about 10% less afraid of things than white women or any other people (called the “white male effect”) – so skywalker is atleast 10% less afraid than rest of the dotsquad? ;p
